I have Finnish blood... The sort that allows me to enjoy saunas and rice pudding, coffee lunch and the Northern lights. I am using that fact to segue into a celebration of Finnish things.

There are a few things I love in addition to Marimekko that are distinctly Finnish.
To begin- the brilliant Tove Jansson, author of the Moomin books our Finnish au pairs would bring as gifts. The books were in Finnish so only the au pairs could read and translate them for us, but the stories are among my favorites.
